LITTLE SPARKS EDITORIAL

ABOUT.

I’m Ana, a queer woman living in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I work primarily with indie and self-published authors.

I’m a thorough, passionate, and insatiably curious editor who will always want to know more about your world, your characters, and your inspiration. I believe in a relationship of trust between a writer and an editor, and that an editor is not a critic but a partner who will stay by your side throughout the creative process.

I specialize in fantasy, LGBTQ+, horror, dark romance, and sci-fi novels, and I am comfortable with any spice level or wild plot in that vein. I will never make you feel ashamed of your work or ask you to tone down what truly drives you, and I am committed to delivering the best possible version of that work to your audience.

Services and pricing are found below, as well as my policies, but please feel free to email me at anahansen@sparkseditorial.com with any questions or use the contact form below. You can also find me on Discord at sparksalive#9597 and can message or friend request me there, and I will get back to you as soon as I’m able.

SERVICES & PRICING.

TRIAL EDIT

  • I offer a trial edit of up to 1,000 words or 4 pages, free of charge and with no obligation to hire or communicate further after that edit is completed.

You can attach pages for a trial edit over email at anahansen@sparkseditorial.com or use the contact form below to express interest. I am always available at that email to discuss expectations or needs for a trial edit, but you are welcome to send pages at any time without previous discussion.

  • You will receive a full, comprehensive edit of your work to the best of my abilities, including tracked changes and editorial notes. I am also open to chat about your project so that you can determine whether I am a good fit, and am always willing to answer any questions you may have about my process, or hear anything you would like me to know about yours.

COPY EDITING & LINE EDITING

  • .008/word

    • Thorough proofreading for punctuation, spelling, and grammatical errors.

    • Suggested edits to correct awkward wording, repetition, formatting, and a sharp eye out for the little quirks and habits that every author has. You can put as many em dashes into your first draft as your heart desires, I’ll deal with them in the edit.

    • This tier includes two full passes of your manuscript.

DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

  • .012/word

    • All of the above is included, as well as a comprehensive look at character, plot, and overall novel structure. If you aren’t sure if your main character is likable, if you haven’t quite figured out that ending yet, this is the tier for you.

    • At this tier, I am also willing to extensively discuss these elements with you. I will offer an editorial report at the end of the first round of edits, as well as continue to answer questions and offer my perspective on request.

    • This edit includes the creation of a character glossary, a timeline, and the editorial report, which will outline my thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of your novel, as well as individually discussing characters, themes, and arcs.

    • This tier includes two to three full passes of your manuscript on a first round, and covers a second round of edits as well. If more edits are needed, we can discuss an additional pricing structure, but I will be with you until you’re happy your novel is in publishing shape.

“Ana is a wonderful editor! She not only really understands the vision and overall arc, but she jumps in and really engages with the characters and their individual stories. She takes care with the technical aspects of my work, but I find her suggestions for improving scenes or plotlines are truly invaluable. If you’re looking for someone to be part of your writing journey, you can’t go wrong with her edits.
